Two things I’d like to emphasize from the video.

“The salad is the main course” is Dr. Fuhrman’s catch phrase. He’s saying that you can have just a giant salad as the whole meal. I often do. I think I put 2 pounds of lettuce and veggies in it. As you can imagine, it fills me up. If you don’t eat salad often today, start with a regular size salad with your meals.

Regular salad dressing adds an unfortunate amount of empty calories to an otherwise great meal. One tablespoon of oil has 120 calories. Most commercial salad dressings have sugar too. And some have dairy. Not to mention all those industrial chemicals that we can’t even pronounce. Instead, get Dr. Fuhurman’s dressings or make your own, with nuts and seeds instead of oil.
